Who Can Run?
To run for this position, you must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- A registered voter in your county
- A resident of the county for at least one year
- Eligible to hold public office under Indiana law
Clerks are elected for a four-year term and may not serve more than eight years within a 12-year period.
Time Commitment and Compensation
This is a full-time role with year-round responsibilities. In Putnam County, the Clerk of the Circuit Court earns approximately $55,000 per year, along with standard county employee benefits.
