The County Assessor is responsible for:

- Submitting certified values to the county auditor for tax rate calculation

Who Can Run?
To qualify for County Assessor in Indiana, you must:
- Be a registered voter and resident of your county
- Meet the state’s Level II Assessor-Appraiser certification requirement (or earn it within 180 days after taking office)
- Be eligible to hold public office under Indiana law
Assessors are elected to a four-year term and may be re-elected without term limits.
Time Commitment & Compensation
This is a full-time role with year-round duties involving leadership, data management, and public service. Compensation is set by the county council and in 2024 was $56,046.00 and includes benefits, and professional development opportunities.
